Full property description

We are delighted to offer you private, self-catering accommodation in our Italian holiday home, a beautifully restored 2 bedroom apartment in this unique historical building.

Though perfect for a relaxing break at any time of year, Il Palazzo literally blooms during the summer months, when the geraniums and rose bushes of its balconies and landscaped gardens are in full flower, the sun is high and a light breeze is up, and the views across Lake Garda will take your breath away. The building and grounds, including the swimming pool, are run by a local, professionally qualified administrator.

The apartment was restored in 2003/2004 and has been updated recently by its new owners. It is stylishly furnished, offering a true home from home on Lake Garda, with every facility for a comfortable stay.
The apartment has access to FREE Wifi.

The apartment’s entrance leads down some steps into a large living room, with vaulted ceilings and original beams dating back to the 16th century, and a large corner sofa seating six people comfortably. There is a large colour television with DVD player and a reading area with view over the lake with two armchairs and a collection of books and DVDs.

The dining area, towards the back of the living room, provides seating for four people and a large dining table, complete with chandelier. The kitchen leads off the living area, and though small, it is of a modern, stylish Italian design, and fully fitted with dishwasher, microwave, fan oven, hob, fridge and small freezer, and plenty of cupboard space. Also leading off the living room from the reading area is a second shower room, newly converted and with a washing machine and clothes drier.

Three small balconies lead off from the living area, providing spectacular views of the swimming pool and lake. The corridor leading down to the bedrooms also gives access to the bathroom, which has its own balcony with lake view. The “bathroom” is actually a large shower-room, with wall-mounted washbasin and toilet, and a huge walk-in “rain” shower, tiled with marble mosaic.

The main bedroom at the end of the corridor also has its own balcony with lake view, and double bed with brass bedstead, crisp white bed-linen and an over-bed decorative net, and a wardrobe. The second bedroom also has a double bed and wardrobe. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans. Air-conditioning is not necessary as the walls are very thick stone maintaining a stable temperature in the apartment, cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

The apartment comes with its own sun loungers, and the pool (open between June and September), is 10x4m, with a depth of 1 to 1.4m.

The apartment is non-smoking, children welcome, no pets, and is not suitable for persons with mobility problems.

Area description

One of the benefits of Il Palazzo is its location. Set in the hills above Salo’, it faces south-east, meaning it enjoys the rays of the sun from morning until sun-down, with a pleasant breeze in the afternoons. On the hottest days, when temperatures can reach the low forties in the towns down around the lake, the gardens and pool at Il Palazzo enjoy a light breeze and temperatures a few degrees lower than at the lakeside.

At night, the apartment is lovely and cool and air-conditioning is simply not needed. Winters are incredibly mild, and while frost can be found at the bottom of the hill on the coldest mornings, up at Il Palazzo the sun warms the hillside.

Il Palazzo is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with vineyards just below the Palazzo and olive trees in abundance, yet the lake and Salò, with its charming street cafe life, designer shops and restaurants, is a short 8km drive away, Gardaland and other theme parks are 40 minutes away, the opera house at the Arena di Verona is 60 minutes away, and the designer stores of Milan are just 1 1/4 hours away by train or 1 1/2 hours by car.

Review #11623387 “Beautiful apartment with stunning lake views” (from HOMEAWAY)

We have just returned from our second stay at I Balconi. It is a lovely bright and spacious apartment and really well equipped. The 5 balconies, planted with geraniums, are a great place to relax with a cup of coffee or glass of wine and enjoy the lake views. (The owners also provide a table and chairs for dining in the garden and sun loungers for the poolside.) The kitchen is small but also fully equipped and everywhere was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The apartment is high up the hillside which gives the fabulous lake view - the road up is quite twisty but we got used to this after the first day. It's position gives an atmosphere of tranquility and relaxation but the hustle and bustle of the lakeside towns is only a short drive away. From Il Palazzo the quiet maintain road leads to some lovely hillside walks and there is a trattoria a short walk down the hill. Lake Garda was relatively quiet at this time of the year but a really lovely place for a relaxing break in the late spring sunshine.

"A Wonderful experience"
We were already impressed from the photo images on the website but the reality surpassed even those. The apartment was delightful and clean and ready for our arrival. Although the property is a few minutes by car down to the village with supermarket etc etc and the lake itself, the distance and mainly the height ( about 500 metres, I guess) above the Lake and the town of Salo ensures heavenly peace and quiet as well as a phenomenal panoramic view !! The facility managers were friendly and most helpful and were able to provide us with much useful information about where to go, which restaurants were best etc. I would definitely happily recommend this property (and it`s sister apartment - Il Palazzo) to family and friends !
