Full property description

What the Owners say:
No 1 Le Begonvilles is one of 18 properties in a condominium that was built in 2004. Our property benefits from an absolutely stunning view of the southern part of Lake Garda, which was the main reason why we bought it in 2005. Although small the garden is one of the nicest, being an end plot and with well established plants. It is a good spot for sunbathing, reading and relaxing evening barbecues as the sun goes down and the bats fly around for their dusk frolic. Thankfully we do not experience many bugs. The warm patio faces the lake, but is well appointed so you cannot see the communal swimming pool, although it is conveniently just below. One of our tables extends, which is great to use on the patio during the summer months, if there is a big group staying with visitors. So, you can see that the outside dominates our time in Tresnico.

Inside, the modern kitchen is well equipped and there is a dishwasher and washing machine in the apartment. We now have added free Wi fi, UK TV (Please be aware that prime channels BBC, ITV etc are not available) a DVD player and a JVC music centre that docks an iPod, takes a USB stick and plays CDs. The two bedrooms are comfortable and the bunks are tall enough so that an adult can sit up on the bottom bunk without head injury. There is plenty of hanging space and extra layers should you be staying during the spring/autumn when nights are cooler. Being 300m above the lake, during the summer heat we benefit from slightly cooler temperatures than lakeside, and a pretty reliable cooling breeze.

New for 2016: FREE WIFI

Area description

We would recommend a car (small one to cope with the narrow local roads), but equally we would encourage you to try out the local walks between the apartment and the villages above and below, where you will find bakery, butchers and other small shops. The surrounding olive groves are peaceful and the views of the lake, the Cypress trees and lovely roofs are pleasing. For serious walkers and cyclists there are a number of stunning challenges in the local area. We recently discovered canyoning nearby, which is simply brilliant!

As you sit looking at the view you can contemplate things in front of you to plan your day - a tour to the Isola (little island just below), a ferry ride to learn about Catullus and the Roman remains at Sirmione, a short drive to the top of the Rocca del Manerba, via an olive press and vineyard, or simply a walk down the back hill to have a lovely meal and a gelato.

It is easy to recommend food - we love the Casino Restaurant at the bottom of Via Panoramica, where the food is exquisite and the lakeside terrace beautiful. This is also a great place for a clear water swim in the lake during the day. The more modern Darsena or the very delightful Riolet are definitely worth a visit, as is the pizza restaurant just by the Il Vittoriale at Gardone Sopra.

Of course there is so much else to do – a train to Venice, an opera at Verona, the Last Supper at Milan and the amazing geology at the northern end of the lake. Like us you will have to keep coming back!
